EMDR
Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a specialized approach designed to help process and overcome distressing memories or experiences. I have completed advanced training in EMDR and am a Certified EMDR Therapist.
In EMDR sessions, you'll be guided to focus on specific parts of a memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, which just means anything that activates both sides of your brain, and can include side-to-side eye movements, taps, or sounds.

This process helps facilitate the brain's natural ability to process and integrate information, reducing the emotional charge associated with traumatic memories. EMDR aims to transform negative beliefs and emotions associated with past experiences, allowing for healing and adaptive resolution. It's a structured and evidence-based therapy and is effective in addressing trauma and fostering emotional well-being.

If all of that sounds a little strange, that's because it can be! EMDR is unlike traditional talk therapy once we get into the reprocessing/eye-movement stages, but before that, it will feel similar to a regular session. We will build toward reprocessing together to ensure you are feeling ready to go into the deeper work. We will do this by building a foundation of trust, safety, and personalized skills that you can draw on if things get challenging. You are in control the entire time, and I will always respect the pace you would like to go.

Please reach out to schedule a consult with me to discuss any questions about EMDR you may have and to find out if it is an appropriate therapy
for you.
